Memory Care and Support Philadelphia
Living with dementia is hard on both the individual and their loved ones. It can cause you to feel frustrated and alone. Help is available. You can take advantage of the range of home health care services provided by leading professionals at Community Care of the Northeast. The team will come in and help you out in any way possible to alleviate the stress and frustration you feel right now.
Our nurses and dementia care home care aides are now reporting a significant increase in the number of clients with Alzheimer’s or other age-related dementia. To meet this expanding dementia care need among seniors who prefer to age at home, Community Care incorporates dementia care as part of its home health care service.
Certified Music and Memory Agency
The documentary film, “Alive Inside,” demonstrated an approach that uses personalized music to uncover the humanity in people with age-related dementias. People dramatically awakened when, through headphones, they heard music meaningful to them personally. Because this approach created by the New York-based nonprofit, Music & Memory, is the only approach currently recognized to help, Community Care received training from Dan Cohen, the founder of Music & Memory, on how to create personalized playlists using iPods, enabling those struggling with Alzheimer’s and other dementias to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories. Community Care now is certified as a Music & Memory agency.
Personalized therapeutic music also gives hope for families. Community Care’s can help children and grandchildren retain familial bonds with loved ones who seem lost to dementia. When a dementia patient listens on these iPods their eyes brighten, faces light up, toes tap, and some even sing along. The music awakens the brain to the client’s memories.
Dementia Caregivers’ Support Group
Under the aegis of the Alzheimer’s Association, caregivers in this support group will discuss challenges, share best practices and knowledge about dementia, and find emotional support. The group is led by Community Care founder/director of nursing, Jean E. Langenbach, RN, BS. For more information: send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
